Camera and Internal Storage

The camera is of 3MP (obviously at such a low price you won’t get a good camera from Nokia) which is not supported by any flash light and moreover there is no info about the internal memory of the device but it can be extended up to 32GB. The camera is fairly basic unit and it wont be wise to expect much from it. The internal storage is 4 GB and can be further extended to 32 GB using MicroSD support. An 8 GB on board storage is something which we would have liked on Nokia’s first budget Android phone, but it follows the trend in entry level segment with 4 GB extendable storage.

Processor and Battery

The processor used on this device is 1GHz Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon something which is not sufficient for Android to run smoothly but we cannot be sure about it as we are not much familiar about Nokia Fastlane (the Android skin by Nokia). The memory allocated to RAM is only 512 MB and going by the fact that this is the first time Nokia is landing with Android OS, they may have to face certain good amount of the challenges (in terms of performance of the device). In our initial time with the device we didnt see much lag in UI transitions. The battery strength of the device is 1500 mAh and this will provide you with sufficient 10.5 hours of talk time on 3G.

Display and Other Features

Android Fastlane is something which will be the unique experience for the android users. Going by what the other experts are commenting about it, Fastlane UI is highly inspired by their low-end Asha devices. The size of the display is 4 Inches with the resolution of 480 x 800 pixels (resolution could have been more). The color reproduction and viewing angles are quite decent. This device is equipped with Dual SIM where both the slots are compatible with GSM band. As far as the connectivity is concerned then as expected Wifi, 3G, Bluetooth and other common feature are the part of this.

Comparison

The Nokia X will compete against Plethora of budget Android devices like Xolo Q700, Xolo Q800, Micromax Canvas Power, etc. It will also compete against Windows phone devices like Nokia Lumia 520 and Nokia Lumia 525.

Key Specifications

Conclusion

We would have liked the first Nokia Android phone to be so much more than Nokia X. Having said that, Nokia deserves credit for a competitive product in the budget Android segment below 8K, which suffers from lack of quality hardware and after sales support.
