Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

Panasonic in terms of build is made up of plastic but the material used is of good quality of plastic and the phone overall feels much better than the other phones in this price range. It does not feel like a slim phone as the thickness of the phone is around 11.2 mm but the glossy plastic back cover is rounded to give you the feel candy bar phone. The form factor of the phone is good as despite being a 4 inch display phone slightly high thickness its fairly easy to hold this phone in one hand and can easily go in a jeans or trouser pocket but thickness of the phone might be uncomfortable at times.

Camera Performance

The rear camera of this device is 3.15 MP fixed focus, the overall image quality is not that great and the low light tend to show a lot of noise as well. The front camera is VGA so cannot expect much from the front camera.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

It has a TFT 4 inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 which is good as you wont see the pixels but the viewing angles are not that wide. The color reproduction on the display is average but again you cant expect much from budget android phone. The in built memory of the phone is 4 GB out of which you get around 2 GB for apps and you also get the option to select SD card on this device as default write disk. The battery rating of this device is around 1800 mAh which seems to be sufficient as you can get around 1 day of backup from this device quite easily.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software UI is customized but is snappy and responsive in UI transitions, however the RAM of the phone is kind of limited which sometimes make it slow in UI but still the phone is usable. The gaming performance of the device is quite good on this price point and you can play casual games like temple run oz and subway surfer etc quite easily on this device. It can also run medium graphic intensive games but you might notice a graphic lag while playing them. Benchmark Scores

Quadrant Standard Edition: 3158Antutu Benchmark: 9864Nenamark2: 40.4 fpsMulti Touch: 2 point

Sound, Video and Navigation

The sound which comes from the loudspeaker is loud and sharp but does not provide a very good bass, the earphones are standard and pretty average on sound quality. HD videos at 720p or 1080p can be played on this device, most of the popular formats are supported or else you can install third party players like MX Player and BS Player for unsupported format. The device can also be used for GPS navigation, it has compass sensor as well for better navigation. It can also accept 3G SIM card so you can use for navigation on the go, but it will also consume some 3G or 2G data for downloading some smaller files required for navigation.

Conclusion and Price

Panasonic T31 seems to be a decent budget smartphone available for a price of around Rs. 7000 INR, its a good candy bar phone with decent build quality, although it does not have a great camera and sound quality from the headphones, but again you can not get everything at this budget price point.
